Today's challenge is to use a local colloquial or foreign phrase for the weather. AS i leave for France on April 27, and am trying to pack, this little offering gave me a way to practice my weather commentary en française
Si Il Pleut avec un Froid de Diable*
Bright brochures thumbed.
Tickets bought.
“April in Paris” mentions no rain.
April showers promise May flowers,
Provence in purple, lilac with lavender,
sunflower yellow, white
Billowing clouds and breeze parfume’
Or days gray, miserables, perhaps
if il gèle à pierre fender,
a frost to break stones.
How then to plan, prepare for
L’ hiver in printemps?^
Wool socks or sandals?
Chemise or a sweater?
Such deep dilemma for Aprils
In France.
*If it is raining with the cold of the devil
^Winter in spring.
